Improper sowing techniques can result in a poor germination as well as encourage algal growth on your SeedPods. One of the most common mistakes when planting in the SmallGarden is pushing the seeds too deep into the SeedPods, causing them to end up under water once the reservoir is filled.
We recommend the following steps to aid in germination and ensure proper moisture level throughout the germination phase:
1) Tear off a small piece of the SeedPod and place it into the center hole. This will effectively keep the seeds at 1/4" depth and prevent them from falling to the bottom of the SeedPod.
2) Gently place the seeds in the center hole - Do not push the seeds deep into the SeedPod. We recommend 3-5 seeds per pod, unless stated otherwise.
3) When adding water, only add 500-1000 mL initially (as opposed to filling up the reservoir) - this will ensure the SeedPods create a good environment for germination, without completely soaking and potentially drowning the seeds.
