If you are connecting your SmallGarden 2 to WiFi, and are unable to successfully pair (or see your wireless network) there are few things to check:
- Ensure your SmallGarden is relatively close to your WiFi router so it receives a strong enough signal to connect. Although every router is different, you should be fine if you are within 50ft (15m) of your wireless router. Outside of this distance can also work, it just may be difficult depending on if anything is interfering with the signal (i.e. steel beams, aluminum framing etc.). Your SmallGarden 2 will work with any signal greater than -80dBm, and has been tested to work up to 300ft away from a router when unobstructed.
- Verify that your router is broadcasting a 2.4GHz signal. Newer routers often broadcast both 5GHz and 2.4GHz, but can sometimes only broadcast 5GHz by default. For the SmallGarden 2 to connect, you must ensure that 2.4GHz has been activated on your router. If you are unable to find your WiFi name during the pairing process, you most likely are only broadcasting in 5GHz, and will need to activate 2.4GHz as well. To do this please use one of the links below (for common routers) or search for 'How to set up 2.4GHz on [ROUTER NAME AND MODEL]':
- While pairing, ensure your SmallGarden 2 is in 'Setup Mode' by pressing and holding the main button for 7 seconds. When the LED light begins to pulse a deep, royal blue, you've entered setup mode.
