NOTE: These directions are for the first generation SmallGarden, not the SmallGarden 2.
Setting up your SmallGarden takes no time at all! Follow these simple steps and you'll be growing in under 10 minutes!
Check the bottom of the post for a full walk-through video as well.
SmallGarden Setup:
- Remove your SmallGarden from the box, place your directions off to the side, remove the cardboard from each side of the SmallGarden (please recycle!). Then place the accessory box off to the side.
-
Next, pull out the black tray that is currently in your SmallGarden. You'll find 4 items; reservoir, plant pod separator, capillary mat (between the reservoir and plant pod separator), and humidity dome (which is nested on the bottom of the reservoir). Place the capillary mat and humidity dome off to the side.
-
Place the reservoir in your SmallGarden, and then insert the plant pod separator - make sure the reservoir fits snuggly under the moisture sensor.
-
Unbox your Accessory Kit, which includes; Starter Seeds. SeedPod bag, water pitcher, PlantFood, and 12V power adapter.
-
Take your SeedPods and place in your plant pod separator (12 in total) - make sure the holes are facing up. Next, take your Starter Seeds and place 5-10 seeds in each SeedPod.
-
Take a small piece of SeedPod material (rip off from each SeedPod), and place over the hole where you placed your seeds - this will help create a more ideal germinating environment for your plants (nice and dark!).
-
Insert the moisture sensor into a SeedPod - make sure the tip is fully inserted into the SeedPod.
-
Fill your water pitcher with 500ml of water, and add 5 drops of plant food. Then pour the water into the corner of your plant pod separator - Note that all of the pods share the same water source, so there is no need to water each one individually.
9. Place the humidity dome over your newly planted seeds - make sure the groove is oriented to fit over the moisture sensor. Note you'll only need to leave the humidity dome over your plants until they are about 1 inch tall - Note at this point remove the humidity dome and set your plants free to grow!
10. Take your power adapter (from the black box that was included in your accessory kit), and plug one end into the wall and the other into the SmallGarden. When you plug in the SmallGarden, your light timer will immediately start the 14 hour ON, 10 hour OFF cycle - so if you plug your SmallGarden in at 7am, your light will stay on until 9pm.
11. Use the small green button on the side of your SmallGarden to momentarily turn on/off your SmallGardens lights - Note this will not affect your SmallGarden's 14/10 hour light cycle.
