Marigolds are a summer favorite because they add a cheerful gold color to our garden and they bloom brightly all summer long. Marigolds are easy to care for and are one of the few flowers we can eat. Here's all you need to know about caring for your marigolds.
Starting with a seed
Marigolds prefer well drainable soil, making our SeedPods perfect for the job! Marigold seeds can withstand full sunlight and hot climates. They thrive in a SmallGarden because the LED's provide just enough light and they are in a controlled climate. After planting your marigold seeds, you can expect to see it sprouting in as little as one week!
Caring for your marigolds
Be sure to provide your marigolds with enough water especially in high heat. Be careful not to keep your marigold in too humid of a climate because their flower heads tend to rot if they are too moist. If you are going to transplant your marigolds to an outdoor garden in the future, you don't need to worry about pests or diseases. Marigold roots repel pests for up to three years!
Harvesting your marigold petals
When your flowers have bloomed, you can either peel off individual leaves to use in meals and teas, or you can trim the whole flower bulb with scissors depending on how many petals you need. Marigold petals are great for garnishing deserts or salads!
